If you don’t find what you’re looking for, just get in touch. We’ll be happy to help.

What platform will my website be in?
All our Rent a Website sites are built in WordPress.

What is WordPress?
WordPress is the most popular solution today for designing and building websites because it offers so many benefits. These include ease of use (putting the business owner in control); comprehensive SEO features (search engines love WordPress); everything can be customised and personalised (so your website extends and complements your offline brand); a built in blog facility (giving you a dynamic and interactive site); and fabulous flexibility (so your site can grow as your business grows). Many big brands such as Starbucks, VW, Ben & Jerry’s, UPS, CNN, and Samsung use WordPress sites.

Can I update my website with new content?
Yes. Easily, and without the need for technical know-how. Your username and login gives you access to the CMS interface through which you can make changes as often as you like. You can edit existing website text, change your images, publish blog posts, delete post or pages, moderate customer comments, manage categories, manage your tags (SEO info which strengthens your site – we’ll explain all about it if you’re not sure), manage links and upload files and images.

What if I don’t know how to do something?
You can check out the video tutorials within your CMS or drop us an email or a call and we will help you. That’s what we’re here for.

Can I add more website pages if I need to?
Additional pages can be added (at just £5/month each). We will add a page for you to add your own content or we can add it for you for an additional fee, please ask for more details.

Do you supply additional training?
We providing online video tutorials which will talk you through everything you need to know in order to make the most of your site or we can do a 2 hours training session with you for £75.

Do you add Google Analytics?
Yes – for our SME, Enterprise and Ecommerce Rent a Website packages. Google Analytics is a very important and informative tool. You’ll receive a monthly report enabling you to see your visitor stats and user information. You can discover and keep track of how people find your site and how they explore it once they arrive. Google Analytics is a great tool for your business and the future growth of your website. All you need to do is send us your analytics code from your Google account and we will add this to the rental website.

What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files typically containing a site name and a unique ID. When you visit a site (which has cookies) for the first time, a cookie is downloaded onto your PC. The next time you visit, your PC checks your cookies, sends information back to the site, and they know you’ve been there before. In some cases this allows them to tailor the information on their site so that it is more relevant to either new or frequent visitors.

What is the website Cookie Law & EU Directive?
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) introduced a set of regulations to protect users against personal data breaches as they browse the Internet. You don’t need to worry about whether your site will comply because we will add a Cookie Control mechanism to your website which will obtain explicit consent for the use of cookies from your site users.

What happens if I want to cancel my contract?
Our Rent a Website packages have a minimum 24 month contract. After that, 30 days notice (via email) is usually required to cancel the contract. If you wish to continue renting the website you will need to do nothing, we will continue on a month-to-month basis. Your costs won’t go up they will be locked at the original price. If you need to cancel after that it’s just 30 days notice (via email). There are no cancellation fees once outside your agreed 24 month contract. If you wish to cancel whilst still in your 24 month contract we require full payment up front for the rest of your contract with us. If you cancel your website you only have rights to domains which you purchased outside this contract, any images or text you supplied us.

Will you remind me when the 24 month contract is up?
Sorry, we won’t send you a reminder as we don’t have the facilities to do so. We would suggest you add a note to our diary to remind you.

Do I own the website?
Rent a Website (which is part of cre8 website design and Beyond the Click family) owns the website and any domain names included in the package. You are simply paying on a monthly basis for all the services listed in your personal website proposal (rental websites are on a 24 month contract with a rolling monthly contact when the 24 months are up). You do not own the website. If you cancel your website after the 24 month contract, you only have rights to domains which you purchased outside this contract, any images or text you supplied us .

What about my own domain name?
Any domain names you have bought and registered in your own name will always belong to you. You can point your domain name/s to the Rent a Website website to provide a seemless transition. If we have provided domain names as part of your Rent a Website package, just talk to us if you would like to buy them.

Can I buy a website?
Yes. We provide a build and buy website option, take a look at our other websites for Website Design in Northampton or Website Design in Norwich. You cannot buy a rental website it is purely for rental purposes only.

How long will it take to get my website live?
Website design takes around 5 working days and website development around 10 working days depending in the complexity of the website and how quickly you supply the information we require from you.

Do you provide the text for my website?
We will work with you closely on the overall structure and design, and will provide images and logos where specified, but the words are your responsibility. We’re happy to offer general advice on content, and if you need more support we have a fab copywriter who can write or edit your website text so it creates the right impression and gets the results you want for your business.

Where are the websites hosted?
All of our websites are hosted in the UK on fast and dependable servers which are part of a hosting infrastructure which is unrivalled in stability and reliability.

How secure are your servers?
We take our customers’ security very seriously. All software is upgraded within 24 hours of new patches being released and our backup procedure goes above and beyond the majority of web hosting companies. This level of security and service (which would normally cost anything from £80 a year) is included FREE in your Rent a Website package. However this is no guarantee and we advise you look into addition security.

Do you offer Website Maintenance?
Rent a Website believe that the design, build and launch of your website is only the beginning of our relationship with you. We are always on hand to help and advise. Although your website has great CMS features, you’ll probably still need our help at some point, even if only because you’re too busy to make the changes you need. We’re happy to help with content updates, your blog, your social media, or any other changes you need. We also offer website maintenance packages, please enquire.

How are updates implemented and what costs are involved?
Updates are carried out on your behalf as and when you need them. All costs (charged at an hourly rate or a set cost) will be agreed before we make any changes to your website.

Do you offer a Website Maintenance Package?
Yes. If you’re likely to want us to input changes (for example update your blog or social media) on a regular basis, then optional website maintenance packages are available. At present we only offer this service for a maximum of ten clients at any time so that we can provide you with the best possible service. So please do talk to us sooner rather than later if you think you might like to take up this service.

What is Unlimited Bandwidth?
Most sites don’t use a lot of bandwidth. If you don’t host large media files or do a lot of streaming, you can usually get by with under 10 GB per month. For example, a modestly-popular blog with 1000 visitors per day, a 100 kb page size and an average of 2 page views per visitor will only need about 8.5 GB of bandwidth per month. Please make sure images are loaded up as 72dpi and videos are linked from YouTube.

Can I see a copy of your Contract / Rental Agreement?
Yes, of course you can. Click on the link to see a copy of our Contract / Rental Agreement.

Can you start my website straight away and have it finished asap?
Sometimes this is possible depending on where we are on projects currently in progress. We may be able to slot you in. Websites are scheduled in and have often been booked weeks, and sometimes months in advance. These websites have already been given projected deadlines that we adhere to.

Don’t see this as a negative but a positive way of showing we are polar and in demand and your going to get a good website.
